About

Esther Brazil was born in Concord, California, brought up in Beijing/Singapore/Sydney (with a year in Southern Illinois), studied philosophy and theology at The Queen’s College, Oxford, and was relieved of any lofty ideals she might once have had about “art” at the Royal Academy of Music in London. After a career as a classical singer, she is currently being formed for priesthood in the Church of England at Ripon College, Cuddesdon. Following ordination, God willing, she will take up the post of Assistant Curate at St Mary Magdalen’s Church, Oxford, in July 2021, where she will be the first woman to hold the post.

She was shortlisted for the 2020 Bridport Prize in Poetry, and is the winner of the 2020 Cuddesdon Creative Writing Competition.

  1. I’ve read that the future historians won’t know anything about the 21st people and their thoughts and hopes, due to the fact that most of our writing today is being put on the Internet not in a written out form, but typed on a computer. I hope they are wrong, as this is a joy to read. I’m so proud of you
